THE NATO MEMBERSHIP OF CYPRUS!

ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ (GREEK) TÜRKÇE (TURKISH)

So, will the Republic of Cyprus become a member of NATO?
Would Turkey oppose it?
According to many ‘Greek Cypriot’ sources, Cyprus’ NATO membership could be a major step forward within the context of regional security and co-operation…

-*-*-

Journalists asked Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus: Do you insist on the membership?
The President responded: Crystal clear! (That is, obviously yes).

-*-*-

Ideologically, only the communist AKEL is against NATO membership!
Political groups on the TRNC side?
Nobody is going to ask them anything, that’s clear!
Even if they do, it will take forever till the Turkish Cypriots decide on this issue…

-*-*-

There is a matter, which I am very curious about!
Let me tell you straight away: What do the heroic members and current followers of EOKA and TMT, founded by Gladio, the famous underground organisation of the guardian of capitalism in the early days of NATO, say; what do they think?
If Turkey says ‘yes’, what will those in the same frequency as TMT in particular say?
A great curiosity!

-*-*-

Imagine, if Cyprus becomes a member of NATO, the Greek Cypriot National Guard, the Security Forces Command and the The Cyprus Turkish Peace Force Command will take part together in the military exercises in Troodos, or Pentadaktylos!
Sounds like the likelihood that all the black crows in the country are white, doesn’t it?

-*-*-

You can also comment: “Ah, evils of capitalism and imperialism… The things you can do!”

-*-*-

What happens if Cyprus becomes a member of NATO?
I don’t know!
I think it depends on what kind of negotiations Turkey will make, but there will most certainly not be two separate and equal sovereign states in Cyprus!
I am sure of it, brother Tahsin!
(Here I refer to the Honourable Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu…)

-*-*-

According to a report in the Cyprus Mail, it is currently not possible for Cyprus to join NATO due to Turkey’s objections.
However, according to president Christodoulides, if Cyprus joins NATO, the defence capabilities of its army, the Greek Cypriot National Guard, will be upgraded!

-*-*-

Actually, if Cyprus becomes a NATO member, military service in Cyprus should be abolished!
Can’t our NATO partners, Turkey and Greece, deal with this defence issue Girye Proedros (Mr. President)?

-*-*-

It is a well known fact that the US supports Cyprus’ membership of NATO…
What is unknown is what Turkey will say about this!

-*-*-

Another unknown is the effect of all of this on the ‘peace process’ on the ethnically divided island, one side of which is ‘utilized’ by NATO member Turkey!

-*-*-

It is also clear as daylight that Cyprus cannot become a member of NATO because of Turkey’s objections.

-*-*-

There is one issue that is open to comment; the geographical position of Cyprus…
This pain-in-the-neck of an island is located in such a place that every imperialist power has been playing lingiri on it for centuries!

-*-*-

What is Lingiri?
Someone should tell the Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia…
Or, let’s put it this way, Mr. Serim; this is like a version of cricket—unlike the way it is in Britain and their former colonies—played without a ball where you can also use sticks and stones and so on…
I can demonstrate it for you in the garden of the embassy.

-*-*-

Whatever!
Cyprus’ NATO membership requires the co-operation of both NATO and the EU…
Turkey is an influential member of the first one, but its relationship with the second one seems to be vague!
Therefore, it looks like this issue will seriously affect the future of the island in the coming period…

-*-*-

So, where is Ersin Tatar in this very important process?
Leave him alone, the man has a ton of problems!
Anyway!

-*-*-

My personal opinion?
Isn’t the island already under the absolute control of NATO, in one way or another, since 1955?
(The foundations of NATO were laid in 1949…)
NATO founded both EOKA and TMT!
Wasn’t the first and main goal of both of them to prevent Cyprus from becoming the Cuba of the Eastern Mediterranean?

-*-*-

Weren’t the CIA, MI6 and even MİT, and their Greek Cypriot, or Turkish Cypriot ‘representatives’ on the island, NATO operatives?

-*-*-

So what will I do if the Republic of Cyprus becomes a member of NATO?
I can’t do anything!
I will just watch and laugh!
I will say, so this is how the big bosses decided now; then I will take a piss and go to sleep…

Three memories

Captain Kutragos…
He was one of the directors of Asil Nadir’s big shipping company, PPI Lines.
A Greek citizen…
I met him in London…
We had many conversations…

-*-*-

It was the late 90s…
He invited me to lunch somewhere.
There was also a gentleman in his 80s at the dinner.

-*-*-

That gentleman had told me that he was from South Africa, and that a group of people including him had prepared many of the trainings offered first to EOKA and then to TMT…
He said that they provided bomb training first to EOKA and then to TMT…
He claimed that he, himself, had done it all…

-*-*-

Then I met a writer called Brendan O’Malley…
The author of the book, ‘Cyprus Conspiracy’…
Tassos Papadopoulos was the President in those days… And he was in London for a visit…
I had met O’Malley during Papadopoulos’ conversation with journalists, and he had said similar things to what the South African chap previously told me about…

-*-*-

I conveyed this to the editor-in-chief of the newspaper I was working for at the time…
He was in one of the first groups that TMT sent for training in a camp near Ankara…
And he told me that when they first arrived, they were given NATO uniforms from South Korea, and in the package they received, besides the uniform, there were American cigarettes and condoms, which he had seen for the first time in his life…
