ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ (GREEK) TÜRKÇE (TURKISH)
Ersin Tatar joined a programme on BRT [Translator’s note: Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation] via telephone and said the following:
“… the call made by Erdoğan (at the UN General Assembly) for the recognition of the TRNC has not only resonated in New York but across all world capitals, creating a perception…”
-*-*-
This statement of Tatar is wrong…
Because Erdoğan’s call did not even make an impact in New York; let alone “the world’s capitals”…
And it did not create any perceptions…
-*-*-
Perhaps it prompted an “it’s not possible” reaction from Athens and Nicosia but the president should have been more careful when including “all of the world’s capitals” in his statement.
-*-*-
Well now, if I were to say “Tatar lied”, and if Yenidüzen published this, would we go to court for “insulting the president and calling him a liar?”
-*-*-
Be my guest!
Would I not [then] ask the question, “How did all the world capitals receive the call made?”
Are you going to tell me that he wasn’t lying, but that he might have exaggerated a bit?
Would I then not turn around and ask him to “list five World capitals where this call resonated”?
Let me just say, a two-paragraph long, single-column news item published on page 31 of a daily newspaper in our friendly country Pakistan would be acceptable on my terms to say that it made an ‘impact’.
-*-*-
If he won’t do so, please you try! Name one capital where Erdoğan’s call has made an impact!
Even our sister Bakü will be acceptable!
-*-*-
No one has ever died from lying!
Rest assured, no one dies from exaggerating!
But do you know what these lies prove?
A very unsuccessful and clearly desperate foreign policy!
Because everyone is very well aware that this foreign policy will not fly!
Turkey, as a guarantor state, cannot divide the Republic of Cyprus without probable cause before it solves its own foreign and domestic problems!
And they all know it!
The only purpose of this lie is nothing more than getting the crowd to cheer in the name of remaining in power!
-*-*-
Ersin Tatar also spoke to a Turkish television channel where he said, “…we expressed our reaction to the US over the removal of the arms embargo.”
How did you react?
As the TRNC, you’re in no position to react to the US administration because no one recognises you as an actor!
Yes, 5 presidents of 15 [civil] societies might get together, might be handed a letter, which they will then hand over to a UN officer at the Ledra Palace hotel… Or the same associations might leave the letter at the US embassy’s office located in an apartment flat in North Nicosia…
Well, then how did Tatar express his reaction?
Did he see Joe Biden riding a bike and yell out to him, “Hey Mr Joe president, hey Mr Joe, Mr Joe we expressed our reaction to you… we expressed our reaction”?
-*-*-
How far are these lies, these exaggerations going to go?
Such a shame!
The level, to which the Turkish Cypriot community has fallen, has been lowered to, is appalling!
Will Titina Loizidou live long enough to get back her property in Kyrenia?
The Council of Europe’s Committee of Deputy Ministers produced a new decision concerning Greek Cypriot Titina Loizidou and developments concerning the area in Cyprus under Turkey’s control…
-*-*-
What is this decision?
This decision, in its simplest form, is one that “irritates” the Greek Cypriot side because it has ruled that compensation and exchange are just as valid as “restitution”…
-*-*-
The decision, “while acknowledging that the property does belong to Titina,” carries the meaning that, “the address for the solution of her problem is the Immovable Property Commission in Nicosia”…
And what does this mean?
From what I understand it means; “Dear Titina, this property belongs to you, we respect this fully but you can solve this problem by receiving compensation or receiving other property in exchange… If you really insist on getting your property back, then go and settle this through the Immovable Property Commission, don’t take up our time”…
-*-*-
Why then is the TRNC Administration, which embraces the mindset that “all that we have stolen”, my apologies, “we have taken belongs to us because we spilt blood for it”, pleased with this decision, which once again states that the “property is not ours”?
Because it underlines that “exchange and compensation” are just as valid a solution as “restitution”…
-*-*-
Why has this irritated the Greek Cypriot side?
Because the court’s earlier ruling “that Turkey must immediately return this property” which could be summed up as “harsh” has now lost its harshness and become more “flexible!”
-*-*-
This decision could also be interpreted as the abandonment of the open support given to the Greek Cypriot side, particularly by the Spanish and Italian delegates who probably said,” we’ve had enough of this nonsense”. And if we were to further elaborate on this, we could comfortably arrive at the conclusion that the EU is fed up with the Cyprus issue.
-*-*-
So what’s going to happen now?
Nothing!
ARUCAD [Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design] is using the building as a university and will continue to do so…
Titina Loizidou, if she wishes, will apply to the IPC [Immovable Property Commission] and will say “pay me its worth”…
If she reaches an agreement with ARUCAD, she will receive her money and the building will legally become the property of the university.
If a settlement is not reached, ARUCAD will continue to use the building; and may God grant her a long and healthy life, Titina Loizidou and when she dies, her inheritors will continue to shuttle from one court to the other!

Lucky for us if a private company, from Turkey or from another country, would fly passengers to the TRNC… Would we applaud such a move? To the very end… But if you try to fool us by attempting to sell off a private profit-based airline as a “national airline”, there is no need for us to question the obvious whether there are “dirty tricks” being played behind the scenes…
