LIFE WITHOUT BARBARIANS!

just when we had detected the long arm of Erdogan in all this dangerous landscape, they are abandoning him too in their thousands.
Just remember:
Why are most of the ones who come here men?
Why have they all got mobile phones?
Why are they mostly young and at an age when they can join the army?
What role will they all play in an explosive situation in our country?
This and much more is concerning us at a time when our own clever businessmen were looking out for cheap labour. This is what worried us when we were inviting into our homes Syrian painters and decorators because they were charging half of what our own people were asking for. And all this was giving us cause for concern at a time when all kinds of contractors of our poor but honest country were doing just fine.
This absolute turn of events has confused us. ‘At last I can go back to my country, my village, my home…’ How such statements seem strange and surprising. Hold on, mate, did you actually come here to save yourself and your family? And now that things have changed, you want to go back? What a truly incomprehensible position!
How will these people live from now on?
The politicians who made a career out of investing in fear and conspiracy theories…
The honourable (small and large) entrepreneurs who set up businesses exploiting the need of people to survive…
All the know-it-all members of the social media who were convinced that the Antichrist had arrived in a rotten boat after days ofhunger and thirst?
Difficult times for those seeking at least one barbarian, at least one enemy, in order to load on to them their own emptiness and hatred of humanity. Perhaps now we will come to realise that the most dangerous barbarians do not come to us from outside…
