And setting aside individuals, or families, one of the most meaningful ones that applies for the Government of the TRNC is, “Debt is the whip of the brave…” [Editor’s Note: meaning, “Necessity is the mother of invention”]

Yes, debt is a correct, or necessary ‘solution’ in difficult times, but when it’s like ours, the end definitely leads to ‘death’!

Due to the War on Iran, governments all over the world are in trouble…
But which governments are in trouble the most?
Those who are ‘unprepared’!

Who are the unprepared ones?
The poor ones!

Who are the poor ones?
Of course, those governed by incompetents!

The TRNC is one of them!
And if the war continues; it is certain that we will witness developments with a far from favorable outcome!

Suddenly, military service came to my mind!

I have no intention of engaging in militarist propaganda, or praising the Turkish Army, but for instance, there’s the matter of the ‘standard combat load of ammunition’ and the ‘standard ration supply’ that sticks in my mind from my days of military service!

I don’t know if I need to explain Kokkina’s geographical location.
It’s a small area located outside the borders of the TRNC, within the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, along the Morphou–Poli road!
This area wasn’t abandoned after 1974!

During my military service, it was only accessible by sea; later, when one of the check points—Limnitis–Pyrgos, or the Amadies Gate—opened, land crossings were also permitted.

On days when land crossings weren’t permitted, and if the sea was too stormy to allow passage—which did happen—the ‘boat’ trips to the military unit in Kokkina, held three times a week, would be canceled!

That’s why we had ‘standard ration supplies’ for days like those…
And sometimes these rations consisted of dry goods like rice, chickpeas, or beans—but they were consumed to prevent spoilage, and fresh supplies were brought in to replace them…
Even if the boats couldn’t come for a month, or even longer, these rations would be enough for the soldiers and even have some left over…

Well, if there were to be a very serious shortage—which never happened while I was in the army—transportation could, of course, be provided by helicopters…

‘Standard combat load of ammunition’ is the same thing!
Or, similar!
Enough ammunition to keep you going for a while during periods when there’s no ‘resupply’!
If it doesn’t arrive before it runs out, it’s either martyrdom, or surrender!

Right now, almost every country in the world is facing an ‘oil’ shortage due to the War on Iran…
And taking precautions…

Greek Cypriot used to organize events like the “Cypriot Festival” there…
