WHO OWNS THE ‘KÜLLİYE’?

Neither was this truth mentioned at the opening, nor was a single sentence uttered about the title deed beforehand.
The ownership of the ‘Külliye’ remains a secret, shrouded in thick turquoise curtains.
Of course, we investigated.
We buried ourselves in maps, deeds, and old records…
And the picture that emerged: 639,475 square metres of chaos!
A significant portion of the land belongs to an Armenian family. The rightful owners are living abroad; they tried to reach out, attempted to purchase the land, but an agreement could not be reached.
These are the words we have heard of.
Information that does not go beyond hearsay.
No one is speaking in an absolute manner.
No one can say, “This is it.”
Everybody is a little shy, a little bit embarrassed…
But we know:
The name of an Armenian citizen of the Republic of Cyprus is inscribed on the land of this massive structure!
The 9-acre plot is owned by a Turkish Cypriot; it is private property…
The property owner purchased the land in 1973. A year later, the military fenced off the area. Before the construction of the complex began, an expropriation decision was issued. Then it became the subject of a lawsuit…
What we have mentioned so far pertains to the northern section: the ‘Presidential Palace’ and the ‘Parliament’ that were recently inaugurated.
What about the opposite side?
That place called the ‘People’s Garden’?
The park, the mosque, the walking path…
Those areas are also Greek Cypriot land!
However, our question regarding that area is even more precise:
Who does it belong to?
No one knows.
Will the ‘Immovable Property Commission’ enlighten the public and the world on this matter?
The truth will surely come out soon…
***
Just when the issue of ‘property’ is so much in the spotlight…
At the very least, the buildings should have been erected in a place free of disputes and problems…
Nevertheless, the construction is illegal, the details of the project remain unknown, the architect is an ‘citizen of exception’, and every regulation and custom has been violated…
A ‘green area’ that is not even under the jurisdiction of the municipality.
Amidst all this, who cares about deeds, titles, rights, and laws…

Those who own a lot of property, assets, and spoils belonging to Greek Cypriots—especially without any ‘equivalent’ compensation— are now asking:
“If we go to the south, are we likely to be arrested?”
Currently, I don’t think so…
Yet, if things carry on like this, the danger is great, of course…
Because there is a problem, and if you don’t sit down at the negotiation table, if you don’t want a solution, and if you don’t recognize the land… In other words, if the mentality of conquest has replaced diplomacy and negotiation…
Then, what are we left with?
You boast, “I will not discuss a federal solution, I will not negotiate, I do not recognise the United Nations platform.”
“I have a state of my own, come and cooperate with me…”
And now, they say to you:
“The land you call ‘a state of your own’ is mine.”
In response, you are not able to say, “That is a lie!”
The real culprits are the divisive, separatist, annexationist political leaders.
As long as they do not go away and this mentality does not disappear…
Our people will not be able to cross to the south,
they will be afraid to go to Europe…
They will be completely trapped here with the fear of an ‘European Arrest Warrant’…
If this policy does not change and a solution is not found…
The risk, qualm, isolation and anxiety will be here to stay…
As for the title deed of the ‘Külliye’…
What if it turns out that the land of the mosque belongs to the church?
This lot seems to be an ardent supporter of ‘Greek Cypriots’.
