They talk about beautifying the cage, rather than the sky.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>The European Parliament occasionally invites, youth, artists, politicians, and educators from both the north and the south of the island to Brussels and Strasbourg.<br \/>\nOur people give presentations either in the parliament or the commission.<br \/>\nThey find the opportunity to have trainings, make observations and do research.<br \/>\nThey voice their views.<br \/>\nAs a result, they engage with Europe; this is a vision, this is to learn how to act, communicate, and gain experience\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cgovernment\u201d is preventing civil servants from accepting these invitations.<br \/>\nTeachers are being prevented.<br \/>\nCivil servants are being obstructed.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>This is the third time I&#8217;ve heard this in just a few months.<br \/>\nOur teachers are being invited by the European Union and the ministry says \u201cno\u201d, \u201cyou can\u2019t go.\u201d<br \/>\nHere you are! This is the real \u201c<strong>embargo<\/strong>!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Could there be a shallower, more unprogressive and insensible understanding of education?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are talking of an approach that is not human rights, equality, democracy and universal values oriented, that prevents the individual development of educators, and chooses to imprison teachers through an oppressive approach rather than allow them to open up to the world.<\/p>\n<p>They know no foreign contact except for \u201c<strong>national<\/strong>\u201d or \u201c<strong>religious<\/strong>\u201d camps in Turkey.<br \/>\nThey pulled out our students, our educators, and our people from the Imagine Project which received <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>a Global Education<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> award.<br \/>\nA blind mentality!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Turkish Cypriots are members of the European Union.<br \/>\nAll <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>TRNC<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> citizens are dying to obtain European Union IDs and passports.<br \/>\nThe Turkish Cypriot community has voiced its desire for a future within the European Union numerous times.<\/p>\n<p>Be my guest, hold a referendum!<br \/>\n<strong>Ask this community if you dare whether they want European values or the AKP<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s Turkey<\/strong><strong>\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>We are being unwillingly dragged towards a state of cults and congregations, and there is anger, reaction and outrage towards this.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s always the same lie\u2026<br \/>\n<strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>We said yes in the referendum and look what happened. Mutluyakal\u0131 is an author of published books of essays and interviews.
