{"id":6932,"date":"2023-01-27T12:07:26","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T09:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/penna.cydialogue.org\/?p=6932"},"modified":"2023-02-06T13:39:09","modified_gmt":"2023-02-06T10:39:09","slug":"recognize-the-darkness-not-the-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/penna.cydialogue.org\/recognize-the-darkness-not-the-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"RECOGNIZE THE DARKNESS, NOT THE MURDER!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><p>When they should call it love, they can\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>Now, they\u2019re calling it love instead of a CRIME!<br \/>\nThey don\u2019t even understand that they are <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>normalising<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> violence.<br \/>\nIn fact, they\u2019re justifying a murder&#8230;<br \/>\nThey are giving out <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>hints<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> to other murderers, irresponsibly, recklessly, loutishly&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>They want to legitimize violence by using love, just as they describe war as peace.<br \/>\nTheir tongues hang out when trying to appease others, spilling rust and spewing out mould everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>My brothers and sisters,<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>unless we can question the darkness that turned this baby into a murderer, we cannot achieve anything.<\/strong> Rakel Dink had said as she bid her husband farewell [<em>Translator<\/em><em>\u2019<\/em><em>s note: Rakel Dink is the wife of Hrant Dink, a Turkish-Armenian intellectual and editor-in-chief of Agosi, who was gunned down by a Turkish nationalist<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p>This is what we need to acknowledge as we try to understand, sense and comprehend a murder in a situation where words fall short, where eyes stare meaninglessly and in despair&#8230;<br \/>\nThere\u2019s <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>darkness<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWe must first question that darkness&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the judgements, curiosity and common reactions such as <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>who was he\/she, what was it about, where was he\/she from, why did it happen<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> we must first understand the darkness we have been pushed into.<\/p>\n<p>We must recognize the darkness that grows where freedom, equality, will and civilization have been lost.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>Violence<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> does not emerge on its own!<br \/>\nIt is learned.<\/p>\n<p>They forget the violence they made us memorise as children; through museums, books, stories, ceremonies, speeches and their language&#8230; Those who \u201cforce\u201d men to take arms and who teach them that it is \u201ccompulsory\u201d to kill are now watching a murder in shock!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Those who remain silent over the words, <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>It is a woman<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s duty to follow a man<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s command<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> cannot have tears to shed for the murder of a girl.<br \/>\nThat is the <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>darkness<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Darkness is to be a guardian of morality against people\u2019s sexual orientation!<br \/>\nIt is to sanctify bigotry instead of science, modernity and absolute knowledge!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>People are torn up in my homeland&#8230;<br \/>\nFor they are without hope&#8230;<br \/>\nOur lives, our country and our future are in fragments&#8230;<br \/>\nWords have lost their meaning, and so have thoughts and knowledge&#8230;<br \/>\nA never-ending pain in our guts&#8230;<br \/>\nNeither the familiar mornings, nor the sincere friendships we have witnessed remain&#8230;<br \/>\nThis state of constraint and uncertainty, of mediocrity, has scattered our personalities&#8230;<br \/>\nThe smirking attitude of the protocol [<em>Translator<\/em><em>\u2019<\/em><em>s note: reference to<\/em> <em>politicians<\/em>] at official spectacles of insolence has worn out our patience&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>They are exercising \u201cpower\u201d on all of us, every moment, everywhere,&#8230;<br \/>\nWe are decaying and eroding&#8230;<br \/>\nOur voices do not echo in the colour of the streets&#8230;<br \/>\nMothers do not smile, there is always worry in our hearts, always a sense of unease.<\/p>\n<p>We are now anxious to run to the parks, to wander carelessly, to defend life, to live freedoms&#8230;<br \/>\nThey are designing anger, murders and violence and they always have a reason.<br \/>\nThat is the darkness!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>My brothers and sisters,<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>unless we can question the darkness that turned this baby into a murderer, we cannot achieve anything<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nThey kill a girl by hitting her on the head again and again&#8230;<br \/>\nIt\u2019s impossible, it can\u2019t be, don\u2019t believe it, the sun does not rise&#8230;<br \/>\nWe bury the hearts of children in the ground&#8230;<br \/>\nWe throw earth over their eyes&#8230;<br \/>\nWe lay their bodies in darkness in the middle of this darkness&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>Love does not kill<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>It is not love that kills, it<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u2019<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>s uneducated, selfish, mentally underdeveloped people who kill. The problem is not in love, the problem is with people who do not know how to love. Since its mostly <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>men <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>who carry out such brutal attacks, the problem lies in men who don<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u2019<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>t know how to love<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ahmet \u00dcmit | Our love is an Old Novel<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>The final journey and the shame that made the pain worse<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> <strong>did not go unnoticed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yeniduzen.com\/son-yolculuk-ve-aciyi-buyuten-bir-utanc-20097yy.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I shared the experiences of a grieving son.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>He had brought his father, who was receiving treatment in Istanbul, to Ercan [<em>Tymbou<\/em>] Airport via ambulance plane and struggled to go through the passport procedures for his intubated father.<\/p>\n<p>He shared his feelings with us as his letter of complaint to the Police General Directorate remained unanswered.<br \/>\nWhat he went through was a true example of insensitivity&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The aggrieved citizen who penned the letter called yesterday, he told me that after my column was published in the newspaper, a high-ranking officer from the Police General Directorate had visited him and apologised in person.<br \/>\n<strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>They told me they [<em>the police<\/em>] had watched the CCTV footage and confirmed my story; they told me that I was right to complain, that the incident had saddened them, and they apologised.
