WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?

This post is also available in: ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ (GREEK) TÜRKÇE (TURKISH)

It would be ridiculous to talk—or, write—as if one knows a lot on this subject!

And then you ask, what subject?

Missiles!

They have a range of such and such kilometres!

They can be fitted with nuclear warheads, and so on and so forth!

-*-*-

As you know, Iran is bombing Israel, and we can see these missiles up in the sky…

I wonder if one of these missiles could hit Cyprus, which is at least 300 kilometres away from Israel, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on the northern side of the island?

-*-*-

I am sure their calculations are based on the logic of an 81 mm. mortar!

So naturally, for a 300-kilometre ‘error margin,’ the ‘spotter’ or, ‘shooter’, would have to be drunk!

-*-*-

Just kidding!

But this is no joke, of course!

-*-*-

We have this obsession of making a statement on anything, and I feel like asking, “What do you have to offer?”

That’s why I started the article with the proclamation, “one should not talk as if they know everything”…

-*-*-

Sometimes our leaders issue statements that make you think as though we’re shaping world politics from the ‘külliye’!

The TRNC is a feeble country with no power, or influence, which is not even legally recognised—a country that is skin and bones!

-*-*-

Naturally, the likelihood of it being a target for Iran, or Israel, is zero!

-*-*-

On the other hand, would Iran attack the Republic of Cyprus?

Maybe if the UK gets involved in the war!

So, Akrotiri and Dhekelia are at risk, but of course, the more active one, that is Akrotiri, is in greater danger!

-*-*-

Could the target be missed?

Could it be missed by a hundred kilometres?

-*-*-

We should ask Ersin Tatar!

He is a man of calculations…

As he mentioned in his own statement, he is also able to speak with Yaşar Güler over the phone…

Yaşar Güler is a former general—due to his military service background—so he must have a knowledge of missiles!

I’m sure he’s telling Tatar a little bit about all of that!

I hope he doesn’t ask the question, “Where did you do your military service, Mr. Ersin?” in the flow of a conversation!

-*-*-

Anyway, could the ongoing war escalate?

Is the TRNC specifically, and the entire island generally, under the threat of a possible attack?

I don’t know!

-*-*-

Is it necessary to take precautions?

It is absolutely necessary!

-*-*-

What does taking precautions mean?

First, we need to stop the ridiculous habit of making meaningless statements accompanied by unnecessary images of,  “Look, we’re on to something here; we’re in the middle of a meeting”…

-*-*-

Then there’s the issue of shelters…

We don’t know the population; we have no idea how we should calculate it!

On top of that, we’ve already spent the entire fund spared for shelters!

A classic TRNC movie script!

We’ve spent the money, and now there are no shelters!

We don’t even have the chance to calculate how many people will fit in the shelters!

-*-*-

Meanwhile, oil prices are going up…

The Turkish Lira continued to lose value yesterday…

There’s the question of, “What will happen to tourism?”

It is essential to discuss what can be done about these issues and take the necessary precautions…

-*-*-

In short, what I’m trying to say is this: the statements made by those in power are, in the truest sense of the word, ‘useless’!

It is pure performance!

No one is really thinking about what needs to be done!

In fact, no one is thinking at all!

-*-*-

Besides, what can we do?

What do we have to offer?

-*-*-

If Israel were to win and Iran were to change its regime in some way—and there are those who believe this is possible—what would we do if Turkey were next in line? It would be wise to consider this possibility!

Or, perhaps Turkey has already considered this as well!
