WHY DID THESE PEOPLE DIE?

This post is also available in: ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ (GREEK) TÜRKÇE (TURKISH)

One of our curiosities, concerns, expectations, and unknowns has now been answered:
“The Erdoğan–Erhürman meeting is happening on Thursday…”

One of the “I wonder”s on the list has been removed.

Now we will see what kind of a ‘common ground’ will be found.

***

But we have other “I wonder”s within ourselves.
Moreover, resolving these does not depend on external factors…

Why did 9-year-old Chinyere Olivia Ojoagu and 47-year-old Ahmet Akarsu die despite going into the ‘Emergency Room’?

More than 48 hours have passed.
There is still no comprehensive explanation.
We want to know what happened minute by minute!

This is not a ‘favour’ but a public obligation.

The public has a right to know all the details.

***

What happened?
What procedures were performed on these people, in chronological order?
What tests were carried out, and what assessments were made by which specialists?
What were the laboratory, or diagnostic results?

All of this must be explained.
What is the reason for this silence?

Our intention is not to judge, accuse, or target anyone.
We want to learn, understand and get informed.

We are talking about the lives of two people.
Both of them asked for ‘help’.
They sought refuge in the protective, healing, and caring institutions of the ‘state’.
They left behind dozens of people with tears in their eyes.

Don’t they at least have the right to know?

For us to be able to discuss the system, we first need to understand what happened.
We need to know the details of every moment.

Human life should not be so cheap.
So ordinary.
So worthless.
So…!
So…!
So…!

Health is the one vital area where transparency, data and statistics should be most prevalent.
But for some reason, there is complete secrecy…

All stakeholders in health have been drowning each other in mutual accusations for years.
That is not what I demand.
Also, I am not saying that all the problems of the system should be solved in a day.
I am not going to engage in high politics, asking “Why is there no Patient Safety Commission?”

It is a very simple question:
What happened to these people?

What time did they arrive at the hospital?
What procedures were performed?
What were the results?
Who performed which intervention, and what was the outcome?
What medications were administered?
What tests were performed?

You know that logbook, that card, that chart…
What was noted down at each and every stage?

Following these deaths, what kind of assessments were made by the relevant experts?
What scenarios were developed?
What possibilities were considered?

We have a right to know all of this.
This is human life.
It doesn’t come back.

What we want now is not a “life”.
If only it were possible to bring them back…
What we want is not a miracle, but information.
Just information.

Minute by minute, what happened?
What, exactly?
