You must have come across people who think they are doing their best even though they are doing nothing, or doing nothing good.
There are people who think they are the best, that without them everything would fall apart, even though they are the weakest link.
Those who think they have done a lot even though they have done nothing, and consider themselves as indispensable, disturb the peace of those around them.
The assumption that one is doing something good can sometimes manifest as a psychological disorder. Some people do not even realise that they have strayed from reality and fallen into delusion.
Unfortunately, I think our country’s leaders have also fallen prey to this disease.
I don’t particularly like it but they say, “These things can happen in politics”… So, what are those things? Lying, talking inconsistently, the attitude of “that was then and this is now”, making promises that cannot be kept, forgetting the promises that were made, presenting basic duties as great achievements, portraying the country as if everything is fine and prosperous despite major issues, presenting even the most basic responsibilities as great achievements, and presenting harmful policies that do not benefit society as if they were excellent initiatives… In my opinion, politics cannot and should not be like this… The country cannot be run with this logic, and it is clear that it is not working…
We frequently encounter such things and realise that those who govern the country are trying to treat their people as if they were stupid. I wish the entire population could realise this.
Especially the efforts to portray the country as a paradise in the news reports following the Prime Minister’s weekly visits are truly revolting…
I wonder if they genuinely believe that they are doing something very good. Or, are these just typical tricks in politics?
If they truly believe they are doing good things, or the best things, if they believe the country is in good shape, it is essential to show them that this is not the case.
Sometimes one wonders if they have succumbed to mythomania. That is, the disease of lying… Forgetting that one has lied and beginning to believe the lie as if it were true…
The country is falling apart, there is no realm in life without problems, or difficulties, and in such an environment, is the government’s painting of a rosy picture and acting as if everything is fine a futile belief, or despair? Perhaps both…
They are trying to cover up their failure with image campaigns and glittery words, but how far can this go?
They are also trying to present projects, carried out and completed by the Turkish government, as their own achievements. Those projects do not belong to you; focus on your own work…
The economy is in shambles; the state finances have gone bankrupt; every month the government has to borrow money to pay the salaries of state employees; education, health, tourism, the environment, and public administration are falling apart; traffic continues to claim lives, and criminal incidents keep frightening, disrupting peace, and causing suffering…
Inflation is ravaging the country, the cost of living cannot be lowered, and on the contrary, it is the state itself that paves way for inflation…
There has been a significant decrease in the number of Greek Cypriots and tourists coming from the south, and Turkish Cypriots have shifted their shopping to the south.
With unfitting appointments, partisanship, economically ill-advised actions, and irregular practices, institutions have reached the point of collapse, and there is not a single institution left that is not struggling to survive.
Something smells fishy in each and every corner, and public administration is constantly being shaken by allegations of corruption and various irregularities.
Meanwhile, the Greek Cypriot government’s initiation of arrests and trials related to property issues, and the deepening of these operations by the day, bringing the issue down to the level of individuals and ordinary citizens, is causing serious concern. This problem has hit Northern Cyprus like a bomb, adding yet another layer of trouble to a situation that is already distressful.
Failing to take the property issue seriously, neglecting the Immovable Property Commission for years, and causing a stir by suggesting changes to laws regarding property sales to foreigners, thereby playing into the hands of the Greek Cypriot government, are all signs of this government’s dimness.
Despite facing significant public backlash and having been deemed problematic by experts, they continue to defend the ‘Law on the Integration of Foreign Currency into the Economy,’ which is commonly referred to by the public as the ‘Money Laundering Law.’ They claim that bringing large sums of money of unknown origin into the country is normal.
One must ask, “Does doubling up the number of casinos in the country, allowing them to multiply uncontrollably, benefit both the sector and the country? Was a cost-benefit analysis conducted? Was it necessary to create inflation through casinos?”. However, they will still carry out every action without heeding any criticism, and their defence methods are also quite peculiar.
For example, the Finance Minister’s statement that no one has become a gambling addict in 30 years and that no cases of pathological gambling have been identified is truly bizarre. I personally know at least 10 people who have gone bankrupt, faced dire circumstances, or seen their families fall apart due to gambling. If I were to push further and ask around, the number would increase…
I’m not saying this for any particular reason; I’m not trying to prove, or disprove anything, but please don’t ignore certain realities. If certain things exist, don’t pretend like they don’t. This is the reality—one must be living in outer space to suggest that it doesn’t exist. You, who lack the most fundamental statistics, are now asking us for statistical data on this matter?
What I’m trying to say is, don’t make strange statements just to justify everything you do. Every time you disconnect from reality, this society suffers the consequences.
